Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – £180k‑£250k

About the role

The Chief Financial Officer will join the Executive Leadership Team, working closely with the CEO, owners and Board to steer the financial strategy of a motor retail group with turnover exceeding £500 million. This hands‑on, board‑level position will guide the business through a major transformation, enhancing financial discipline while supporting growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a finance strategy that improves transparency, decision‑making speed and quality during a period of significant change.
• Strengthen financial controls, governance, forecasting, cash management and working‑capital discipline across a multi‑site motor retail operation.
• Provide commercial insight into vehicle performance, after‑sales, manufacturer incentives, stock, margin, property and capital allocation.
• Lead the finance function to a higher‑performing state with stronger business partnering, data capability, system discipline and accountability.
• Support the CEO and Board in evaluating strategic options, investments, restructurings, acquisitions, disposals and funding arrangements.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant with extensive senior finance leadership experience, preferably as CFO or Finance Director.
• Proven track record in a large, complex, multi‑site business, ideally with turnover in the hundreds of millions.
• Experience in automotive retail, motor groups, franchised dealerships or other working‑capital‑intensive sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to lead change and transformation in a fast‑moving environment.
