Chief Operating Officer – Group Operations Lead

About the role

This is a hands‑on Chief Operating Officer position within a private‑equity‑backed, fast‑growing group of businesses. The COO will own operational performance across a multi‑sector portfolio, driving rigour, pace and accountability as the group scales.

Key responsibilities

• Own operational performance across the portfolio with clear KPIs, reporting rhythms and regular reviews.
• Step into under‑performing businesses, diagnose issues and execute turn‑around plans.
• Drive value creation through cost optimisation, process improvement and systems integration.
• Lead operational integration of new acquisitions.
• Support and challenge management teams within each business.
• Collaborate with investors and the CFO on planning, capital allocation and business case development.

Required profile

• Proven operator who has run multi‑site or multi‑business operations.
• Comfortable in a fast‑moving, acquisitive, private‑equity environment.
• Financially literate and experienced working closely with a CFO and investors.
• Track record of turning around under‑performing businesses.
• Background such as portfolio operations director, group operations director or operating partner.
