About the role
The organisation is an international leader in semiconductor and photonics, seeking a Chief Technology Officer to steer its Photonics business unit through a leadership transition. The CTO will define the technology vision, drive innovation, and align engineering efforts with market demands across optical communications, data‑center interconnects, and sensing.
Key responsibilities
- Define and execute a long‑term technology roadmap covering photonics, lasers, and integrated optical solutions.
- Identify emerging trends in optical communications, AI‑driven datacenter interconnects, and sensing technologies.
- Lead global R&D teams to deliver high‑performance laser products from concept to qualification.
- Drive innovation in III‑V semiconductor technologies, silicon photonics integration, and advanced packaging.
- Develop and strengthen the company’s patent portfolio.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the development lifecycle of laser products, ensuring performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Align engineering initiatives with market needs in telecom, datacom, industrial, and consumer sectors.
Required profile
- PhD or Master’s degree in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in semiconductor or photonics technology leadership.
- Proven track record of developing and commercialising photonic or optical communication products.
- Strong understanding of lasers (DFB, SOA) and end‑user requirements.
- Experience leading large, multidisciplinary engineering teams across geographies.
- Strategic thinking combined with deep technical expertise.
- Background working with telecom/datacom OEMs or hyperscalers.
- Prior executive leadership experience (VP Engineering, CTO or equivalent).
