Chief Technology Officer

About the role

Ofgem is seeking a senior technology leader to shape its digital future. The Chief Technology Officer will guide the design, delivery and operation of core technology platforms that underpin the regulator’s mission to protect consumers and ensure a sustainable energy system.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the overall technology and platform agenda, covering platform engineering, systems engineering, networks, firewalls and architecture.
• Provide technical direction for major transformation programmes, including the deployment of Workday for finance and HR and the continued evolution of Salesforce and CRM capabilities.
• Build and develop the technology team, improving capability, culture, processes and governance.
• Ensure the technology foundation supports regulatory and delivery services while aligning with wider government digital priorities.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in a complex, multi‑disciplinary technology environment.
• Ability to balance strategic vision with hands‑on technical involvement when needed.
• Strong track record of driving large‑scale platform transformations and fostering high‑performing teams.
