Child Protection Chair – LADO/ IRO (Temporary, £55.62/hr)

About the role

Our client, the London Borough of Bexley, is seeking a qualified Child Protection Chair with experience as a Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) and Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO). The role is temporary, full‑time and based on‑site, with a rate of £55.62 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct face‑to‑face meetings with children, families and professionals to assess safeguarding concerns.
• Lead LADO investigations and IRO reviews in accordance with statutory guidance.
• Prepare and maintain detailed case records and reference documentation.
• Collaborate with multi‑agency partners to develop protection plans.
• Ensure compliance with enhanced DBS requirements and other safeguarding policies.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of relevant LADO/ IRO experience.
• Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance is mandatory.
• Ability to provide full five‑year client‑referenced history and a character reference for any professional gaps.
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.

Required skills

• Proven LADO (Local Authority Designated Officer) experience.
• Proven IRO (Independent Reviewing Officer) experience.
