Child Support Worker – Temporary (Full‑time/Part‑time)

About the role

Randstad Care is seeking enthusiastic Child Support Workers to join the High‑Yield Care Team in Southampton. You will work directly with children and young people who need extra assistance because of learning disabilities, mental health challenges, or complex emotional needs.

Key responsibilities

• Support daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal care and attendance at school or community events.
• Provide emotional and behavioural guidance using positive strategies to help children manage strong emotions safely.
• Plan and deliver engaging activities – outings, arts & crafts, sports – that promote development and enjoyment.
• Maintain accurate daily logs and incident reports to keep the wider care and social‑work teams informed.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months experience in a children‑support or comparable crisis‑support role.
• Strong English reading and writing skills to interpret care plans and produce clear reports.
• Ability to stay calm, think quickly and make safe decisions in unpredictable situations.
• Empathetic and resilient nature, able to handle challenging behaviours professionally.
