Childcare Solicitor (NQ)

About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a newly qualified solicitor to join a busy Childcare Law team on a permanent, hybrid basis. You will develop a caseload of public‑law children matters, representing parents, families and children in care proceedings and related applications.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with and manage childcare law matters under supervision.
• Advise and represent clients in care proceedings, emergency protection, interim care orders, special guardianship, placement and adoption proceedings.
• Attend court hearings, conferences and client meetings.
• Draft applications, statements, correspondence and legal documents.
• Liaise with clients, local authorities, Children’s Guardians, experts and other professionals.
• Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements and professional obligations.
• Provide excellent client care throughout each case.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor in England and Wales, or due to qualify shortly.
• Demonstrable interest in childcare and public‑law children work.
• Experience gained through a training contract, paralegal role, placement or previous employment in family or childcare law.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
• Commitment to supporting vulnerable clients and achieving positive outcomes.
