About the role
Hestia Housing and Support is seeking a part‑time Children & Families Worker for its Domestic Abuse Service in Merton. The role focuses on building supportive relationships with women and their children, helping them achieve independence through a strengths‑based approach.
Key responsibilities
- Build positive relationships with women and children and develop personalised support plans in collaboration with service users and external agencies.
- Advocate on behalf of service users when needed.
- Assist mothers with parenting skills and signpost them to appropriate services.
- Provide targeted support to families experiencing domestic abuse.
- Ensure safeguarding of children and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Deliver educational, recreational and interactive play opportunities during term time and holidays.
- Encourage service users and children to shape projects through consultation, feedback and creative engagement.
- Promote community involvement by networking, fundraising and collaborating with statutory and voluntary organisations.
Required profile
- Female applicant (restricted under Schedule 9 (1a) of the Equality Act 2010).
- Optimism, resilience and a non‑judgemental, anti‑discriminatory approach.
- Calm manner, empathy and compassion.
- Willingness to learn and develop core skills.
- Lived experience of the areas supported is valued.
