Children's Engagement & Support Practitioner – 23 hrs/week

About the role

This temporary position supports a vibrant 13‑year‑old girl with cerebral palsy and epilepsy in her family home in Lewisham. The practitioner will create engaging, meaningful experiences that promote independence, communication and social interaction both at home and in the community.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with morning and evening routines, including personal care and bathing.
• Provide PEG feeding support following training and adhere to care plans.
• Support epilepsy management in line with prescribed protocols.
• Design and deliver music, sensory, technology‑based and communication activities.
• Encourage participation in community outings, school holidays and social events.
• Collaborate closely with the family and multidisciplinary team to ensure consistent, person‑centred care.

Required profile

• Compassionate, energetic and creative individual who enjoys building genuine relationships.
• Experience or strong interest in supporting children with complex disabilities.
• Ability to follow training, care plans and health‑safety guidelines.
• Positive attitude with a focus on seeing the person first, not the diagnosis.

Required skills

• Knowledge of PEG feeding procedures (training provided).
• Understanding of epilepsy management protocols.
• Ability to plan and facilitate sensory and technology‑based activities.
