Children's Home Registered Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead a brand‑new children’s home in Newton Abbot. This senior position will shape the culture, values and standards of the service from day one, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for vulnerable children.

Key responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for day‑to‑day management and operation in line with Children’s Homes Regulations, Ofsted requirements and safeguarding legislation.
• Support the set‑up and development of the new service, establishing operational standards, sourcing resources and preparing the home for opening.
• Lead, motivate, coach and develop a team of approximately 12 residential care staff, managing supervision, training and performance.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, contractual obligations and quality standards, preparing for Ofsted inspections and driving continuous improvement.
• Build strong relationships with social workers, local authorities, families and external professionals to secure the best outcomes for children.
• Manage the home’s budget and allocate resources effectively.

Required profile

• Significant experience in children’s residential care, preferably in a managerial capacity.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, regulatory frameworks and Ofsted inspection processes.
• Proven leadership and team‑development abilities.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with external partners.
• Ability to work flexibly around the needs of the home.

• Competitive salary £50,000‑£60,000 per annum (DOE).
