Children's Residential Care Manager

About the role

Arborvitae Care Services is seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead its Ofsted‑registered children’s homes for young people with emotional and behavioural needs. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality care, leading staff, and ensuring full regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, support and train a team of staff to provide excellent care for children and young people.
• Engage directly with children, model positive behaviour and build rapport to promote independence.
• Oversee recruitment and ensure safer recruitment processes are followed.
• Maintain regulatory compliance and prepare for Ofsted inspections.
• Develop care plans and supervise safeguarding procedures.
• Build strong relationships with external professionals, families and agencies.
• Drive continuous improvement and achieve positive outcomes for children.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years’ management experience in a children’s residential care setting.
• Proven track record of achieving and sustaining Outstanding or Good Ofsted ratings.
• Level 5 Diploma in Residential Childcare or willingness to work towards it.
• Previous Ofsted registration and strong understanding of care regulations, including MH & DOLS experience.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to work on‑call.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Children’s Act.
• Familiarity with Children’s Homes Regulations.
• Understanding of Ofsted Regulations (REG 40, 44 & 45).
• Experience with Mental Health (MH) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS).
