Children's Residential Support Worker

About the role

We are launching a brand‑new not‑for‑profit children’s residential home in Wimborne and are seeking compassionate Support Workers to join the founding team. You will work directly with children who have learning disabilities, helping them feel safe, valued and empowered while they develop independence and confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Build trusting, positive relationships with each child.
• Support daily routines including school runs, meals, play and bedtime.
• Assist children in learning life‑skills and increasing independence.
• Contribute to care plans, risk assessments and routine reviews (training provided).
• Manage challenging behaviour calmly using a therapeutic approach.
• Participate in the sleep‑in rota, averaging four overnight shifts per month.

Required profile

• Genuine interest in supporting children with learning disabilities.
• Reliability, compassion and a willingness to work as part of a safeguarding‑focused team.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and occasional overnight stays.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of child safeguarding principles.
• Ability to follow instructions and apply training in care‑plan delivery.
