Children's Residential Support Worker

About the role

We are recruiting a Children's Residential Support Worker to join our dedicated residential childcare team in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. The role involves providing high‑quality care and support to children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties within a specialist residential home.

Key responsibilities

• Support children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and promote a safe, caring residential environment.
• Carry out regular welfare checks, respond to incidents, safeguarding concerns and emergencies, and maintain accurate daily records and handovers.
• Provide emotional support, positive role modelling, and encourage positive behaviour through consistent boundaries.
• Complete light household duties, support morning routines, and ensure the home remains safe, including security and fire safety checks.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers and external professionals, adhering to Children’s Homes Regulations and safeguarding guidance.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people, preferably in children’s residential care.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection and professional boundaries.
• Good written record‑keeping skills and ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Proactive, flexible and child‑centred attitude; full UK driving licence desirable.
