Children's Residential Worker

About the role

Join Buckinghamshire Council as a Children’s Residential Worker and provide a safe, nurturing home environment for young people across the county. You will work as part of a close‑knit team delivering 24‑hour residential care, supporting children’s physical, emotional and social development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist young people with daily routines, meals, personal care and school attendance.
• Plan and lead out‑of‑school activities, community outings and recreational programmes.
• Build trusting relationships, act as a positive role model and promote independence.
• Apply trauma‑informed approaches to manage behaviour and support emotional wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate records, contribute to admission processes, case conferences and progress reports.
• Collaborate with social workers, health professionals and families to implement and review individual care plans.

Required profile

• Demonstrated dedication, resilience and a genuine passion for supporting children.
• Ability to work flexible day, night and on‑call shifts.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to promoting equality and challenging discrimination.
