Children's Social Worker – Duty & Assessment (Rochdale)

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join the Duty Team for a temporary full‑time placement in Rochdale. You will work directly with children, families and partner agencies to ensure the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable youngsters.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out timely, proportionate assessments of children and families referred to the service, adhering to statutory guidance.
• Respond to new referrals, conduct initial visits and gather information to support decision‑making.
• Identify risks and strengths, put safeguarding measures in place and develop appropriate support plans.
• Collaborate with multi‑agency partners to create and review care plans.
• Prepare clear, evidence‑based reports for child protection conferences, legal proceedings and other statutory meetings.
• Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with legislation and best practice.
• Participate in the duty rota, responding promptly to urgent cases and managing crisis situations.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Minimum three years’ experience working as a qualified social worker.
