Children's Social Worker – FAST (North Yorkshire)

About the role

We are seeking a Children’s Social Worker to join the Family Safeguarding Team for North Yorkshire Council. The role involves managing a caseload of Children in Need, Child Protection and Looked‑After Children, delivering assessments and multi‑agency plans to achieve positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Hold and manage a caseload allocated by the Team Manager, including Children in Need, Child Protection and Looked‑After Children.
• Conduct assessments, formulate and monitor care plans in partnership with multi‑agency professionals.
• Prioritise and allocate cases, liaise with statutory bodies and third‑sector partners.
• Maintain accurate case records, produce reports and give evidence in court when required.
• Chair and attend multi‑agency meetings, commission services and support for children and families.

Required profile

• Registered social worker with experience in child protection or children’s services.
• Ability to work independently, manage a varied caseload and meet statutory deadlines.
• Strong communication and partnership skills with external agencies and families.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children.

Required skills

• Case management and assessment techniques.
• Knowledge of Children in Need, Child Protection and Looked‑After Children legislation.
• Report writing and record‑keeping standards.
