Children's Social Worker (Kinship Team)

About the role

The Kinship Team within the Family Placement Service is seeking a qualified Children’s Social Worker to support children remaining in their wider family network. You will work on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, delivering statutory and community social work for kinship carers.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out viability (Regulation 24) assessments to place children with kinship carers.
• Conduct assessments for approval to the Fostering Panel and for Special Guardianship.
• Provide ongoing support to kinship carers, including preparation training and participation in support groups.
• Organise and attend half‑term Kinship Community Events and coffee mornings.
• Make applications for therapeutic assessments and support through the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund.
• Collaborate with the Kinship Team, including Advanced Practitioners and Family Support Workers.

Required profile

• Qualified social worker with at least one year post‑qualifying experience in statutory social work.
• Demonstrated interest in kinship care and child welfare.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
