Children’s Social Worker – LAC Team (Oxfordshire)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join a Looked After Children (LAC) team in Oxfordshire. The role will support children in care, ensuring their safety, wellbeing and positive outcomes while working across Banbury, Kidlington or Abingdon.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the needs of children in care and develop individual care plans.
• Coordinate with fostering agencies, schools, health services and the courts to safeguard children.
• Monitor and review progress, adjusting interventions as required.
• Provide advocacy and support to children and young people, promoting their voice in decisions.
• Maintain accurate case records and produce statutory reports.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker (registered with the appropriate professional body).
• Experience working with Looked After Children or in a child‑in‑care setting.
• Strong understanding of UK child protection legislation and LAC policies.
• Excellent communication and multi‑agency collaboration skills.

Required skills

• Case management and assessment.
• Risk assessment and safety planning.
• Knowledge of fostering, adoption and placement processes.
