Children’s Social Worker – Youth Justice Team (Merseyside)

About the role

This full‑time contract position joins Sefton’s Youth Justice Service as a Children’s Social Worker. You will work closely with partner agencies to keep children safe, prevent offending, and support those already involved in the criminal justice system.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with local partners to deliver safeguarding and risk‑management interventions.
• Develop and implement personalised support plans that aim to reduce offending behaviour and promote wellbeing.
• Ensure compliance with legislation and safeguarding standards while protecting public safety.
• Maintain the reputation of the Department and Council through professional practice.

Required profile

• Recognised professional qualification such as a Social Work Diploma in Probation Studies or Dip HE Youth & Community.
• Relevant youth/ criminal‑justice degree with substantial post‑qualification experience.
• Proven ability to assess children’s needs, devise intervention packages, and manage risk.
• Strong knowledge of youth‑justice legislation and safeguarding procedures.
• Experience of multi‑agency collaboration to achieve positive outcomes.
