Children’s Support Worker – Dorset

About the role

We are seeking caring, reliable and compassionate Children’s Support Workers for temporary and ongoing assignments across Dorset. You will work in residential, community or supported‑living settings, helping young people feel safe, supported and encouraged to develop independence.

Key responsibilities

• Support children and young people with daily routines and personal care.
• Provide practical and emotional assistance, fostering confidence and life‑skills.
• Encourage participation in activities, appointments and community outings.
• Follow care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
• Maintain accurate records and report any concerns promptly.
• Collaborate closely with permanent staff and other professionals.

Required profile

• Caring, patient and understanding attitude.
• Reliability, professionalism and strong communication with children.
• Ability to stay calm in challenging situations.
• Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleep‑in duties.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting child welfare.

Required skills

• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred).
• Eligibility to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
• Relevant experience in care, support work, education or youth services (desirable).
