Children's Team Manager – Front Door Teams

About the role

The Children’s Team Manager will lead the Front Door teams within Worcestershire County Council, ensuring that children and young people receive safe, high‑quality services. This full‑time, temporary position involves strategic planning, staff development and safeguarding oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Set and monitor realistic objectives for the Front Door team, ensuring delivery against statutory standards.
• Recruit, train and develop staff capable of safeguarding children and young people.
• Prioritise workloads, manage poor performance and make delegated decisions to protect service users.
• Analyse performance data, identify concerns and implement corrective actions.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with service users, families, carers and partner organisations.
• Manage the team budget, monitor expenditure and ensure resources meet assessed needs.

Required profile

• Experience in leading teams within children’s services or a comparable public‑sector environment.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and statutory procedures.
• Ability to make robust decisions and manage performance issues.
