Children's Team Manager – MASH

About the role

The Cambridgeshire County Council is seeking a Children's Team Manager to lead its MASH (Multi‑Agency Safeguarding Hub) team. This full‑time, fixed‑term position is based in Cambridge and focuses on delivering high‑quality services to children, families and carers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage delivery of services in line with statutory guidelines and service specifications.
• Plan, allocate and review workload, ensuring priorities are met and shortfalls identified.
• Implement policies and procedures responding to statutory guidance and local needs.
• Provide professional leadership on safeguarding, risk assessment and case management.
• Develop and maintain service quality, engaging service users and carers in service design.
• Ensure regular supervision, appraisal and SMART objectives for all team members.
• Lead performance management, including handling poor performance, grievances and disciplinary matters.
• Use management information to inform decisions and monitor team performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing social‑work or safeguarding teams.
• Strong understanding of statutory safeguarding frameworks and risk management.
• Ability to make autonomous decisions and deputise for senior managers when required.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and service development.
