Children's Therapeutic Deputy Manager

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Children's Therapeutic Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager of a specialist three‑bed residential home in Gateshead. This role is central to delivering trauma‑informed therapeutic care for children and young people with learning disabilities and complex emotional and behavioural needs.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in leading the day‑to‑day operation of the home, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.
- Support, mentor and develop the residential staff team, fostering a nurturing and therapeutic environment.
- Manage shift patterns, including two on‑shift days (7:30 am‑9:30 pm) and administrative shifts (8:30 am‑4:30 pm), with one contracted sleep‑in per week.
- Collaborate with external agencies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required profile
- Experience working in a Children’s Residential Home, preferably as a Senior Support Worker or Deputy Manager.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential).
- Strong understanding of trauma‑informed and therapeutic practice.
- Knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations and safeguarding requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication and mentoring abilities.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Commitment to delivering outstanding outcomes for children and young people.

- Salary £37,640 – £39,640 per year (including contracted sleep‑in).
- Additional sleep‑in pay at £70 per night.
