About the role
The Diocese of Carlisle seeks an experienced missional leader to head its Church Planting initiative. Based at Church House in Penrith, you will guide the first generation of a five‑year planting programme across rural and urban Cumbria.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the launch and delivery of the planting programme funded by the Diocesan Investment Programme.
- Work with local church leaders to develop planting plans, build capacity and support new congregations and revitalisations.
- Provide leadership, monitoring and evaluation to ensure programme success.
- Facilitate learning, harvest insights and inform strategic planning for future planting work.
- Collaborate with local and national partners to shape long‑term church‑planting strategy.
Required profile
- Proven track record in effective church planting and mission leadership.
- Passion for mobilising people in mission and reaching communities with the Good News.
- Ability to work across diverse rural and urban contexts.
- Practising Christian as required by the Equality Act.
- Strong collaborative and strategic thinking skills.

What we offer
- Full‑time permanent position with hybrid working (on‑site at Church House and remote).
- Salary of £50,703 per year.
- 15% non‑contributory pension or option to remain in the Church of England Clergy Pension Scheme.
