Civil Engineer – Refurbishment & New Development

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Civil Engineer to join our client’s team in the South West of England. The role focuses on refurbishment, renovation, new build projects and ensuring compliance with listed building regulations. You will work across multiple stages of the RIBA Plan of Work, delivering technical solutions from concept through to construction.

Key responsibilities

• Provide construction‑related advice and support across a portfolio of projects.
• Produce and coordinate drawing packages and technical specifications.
• Liaise with client stakeholders, design teams and statutory authorities to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Arrange site and ground investigations, conduct condition surveys and develop remediation reports.
• Design alterations to existing structures, including listed buildings, and contribute to small‑scale new builds and temporary works.

Required profile

• Proven civil engineering experience in highly regulated sectors such as nuclear, maritime, infrastructure or oil & gas.
• Track record of delivering projects through RIBA Stages 3 to 5.
• Strong knowledge of construction regulations and listed building compliance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Revit or comparable BIM‑enabled software.
• Experience delivering to BIM Level 2 standards.
• Ability to interpret and produce engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Competence in conducting condition surveys and preparing remediation strategies.
