Civil Engineer – Utilities & Infrastructure

About the role

Skanska’s Building Operating Unit is delivering a major defence project in Cambridgeshire. We are looking for a Civil Engineer to plan, manage and coordinate the engineering aspects of sub‑contract packages covering excavation, drainage, high‑voltage cabling and sub‑station construction.

Key responsibilities

• Provide regular progress updates to the project team.
• Manage third‑party survey teams and liaise with base personnel and other external stakeholders.
• Oversee site engineering activities in line with Skanska’s environmental, health, safety and quality procedures.
• Lead the pre‑construction and construction phases of utility works.
• Conduct site management duties including programme progress checks, quality assurance checks and H&S compliance.

Required profile

• Minimum BTEC HNC/HND or BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering.
• At least 4 years of experience on projects of comparable complexity.
• Experience with high‑voltage (UKPN) systems and sewage pump/pipework installations.
• Temporary Works Coordinator certification.
• Strong quality‑management capability.
