Civil Engineering & Design Engineer – HV Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking a Civil Engineering & Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering firm delivering high‑voltage (HV) grid connection projects across the UK. The role involves designing civil and structural elements for substations, cable routes, drainage systems and access infrastructure, supporting the nation’s renewable energy ambitions.

Key responsibilities

• Produce civil and structural designs for HV/MV/LV projects, including foundations, cable routes, drainage and access roads.
• Generate detailed CAD drawings, calculations and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers, project managers and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review contractor and vendor submissions to ensure compliance with CDM regulations and industry standards.
• Provide on‑site support during construction and commissioning phases.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Experience in utilities, substation or power infrastructure design.
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical and structural principles.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
