Class 1 Day Trunk Driver

About the role

Gregory Distribution Ltd is looking for a reliable Class 1 Day Trunk Driver to join its logistics team in Cullompton. You will operate curtain‑side or flatbed trailers on planned day routes, moving palletised freight between depots, hubs and customer sites.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and deliver palletised freight using curtain‑side or flatbed trailers, covering C&D multidrop, Burts shunts and trunking operations.
• Secure loads with straps, nets or other approved restraints in line with network standards.
• Perform thorough pre‑departure and end‑of‑shift vehicle safety checks using the company device.
• Handle paperwork, scanning and freight verification to ensure smooth hub and depot operations.
• Maintain clear communication with the Transport Team, reporting issues and updating customer expectations.
• Represent the business professionally at customer sites, depots and network hubs.

Required profile

• Hold a valid UK Class 1 CE licence.
• Current DCPC card and Digital Tachograph driver card.
• Experience delivering loads directly to client sites is advantageous.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and ability to meet deadlines.
• Good geographical knowledge of the South West England area.
• Fit, flexible, hardworking and self‑motivated.
