About the role
Royal Mail is seeking experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) drivers to join its trunking operations between depots across the UK. The role is based in Chelmsford and offers temporary, ongoing work for the remainder of 2026, with a variety of shift patterns including mornings, evenings and weekends.
Key responsibilities
- Transport mail between national sites
- Perform comprehensive vehicle checks and maintain top‑tier safety standards
- Follow scheduled routes with precision
- Represent Royal Mail professionally on every run
Required profile
- Valid HGV Class 1 / C+E licence held for at least 2 years
- Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph card
- Minimum 180 days of Class 1 driving experience in the past 2 years
- Maximum 6 penalty points on licence
- Ability to pass vetting and DBS checks

- Pay between £21.99 and £25.12 per hour, shift dependent
- Guaranteed minimum daily hours
- Weekly pay, holiday accrual and pension (PAYE)
