Class 1 HGV Driver

About the role

Mpeople Recruitment is seeking an experienced Class 1 HGV Driver to join a well‑established client in the Salford area. The role focuses on local deliveries and collections within Manchester and its surrounding locations, ensuring goods are moved safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Complete local deliveries and collections across Manchester and nearby towns.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks, report any defects and keep the vehicle clean and roadworthy.
• Secure loads properly and transport them safely.
• Maintain accurate delivery records and ensure tachograph compliance.
• Load and unload goods when required.
• Communicate effectively with the transport team and provide excellent customer service.
• Follow all health & safety and company procedures.

Required profile

• Valid Class 1 (C+E) licence with at least 12 months of commercial driving experience.
• Driver CPC qualification and a Digital Tachograph Card.
• Good knowledge of driver hours, transport regulations and the Manchester area.
• Reliable, organised, safety‑conscious and professional attitude.

Required skills

• Operation of a digital tachograph and maintenance of tachograph records.
• Performing daily vehicle inspections and reporting defects.

What we offer

• £37,000 per annum salary.
• Full‑time permanent contract, 40 hours per week.
