Class 2 Day Driver

About the role

Join Gregory Distribution Group as a Class 2 Day Driver, delivering chilled and frozen products across the South and South West on a 9‑week rolling rota. You will operate temperature‑controlled trailers, ensure safe loading, and maintain communication with the transport team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver chilled and frozen products on multi‑drop radial routes across the South and South West using a temperature‑controlled trailer.
• Perform vehicle swaps and manual transhipping using roll cages.
• Load and secure goods with straps, nets and other devices to prevent shifting or damage.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks via company phone.
• Maintain regular communication with the transport team and provide progress updates.
• Attend training sessions to stay up‑to‑date with industry standards.

Required profile

• Valid UK Class 2 C driving licence.
• Current DCPC card and Digital Tachograph driver card.
• Customer‑focused attitude with clear communication.
• Ability to work to tight schedules while maintaining safety.
• Positive team player who can also work independently.
• Good geographical knowledge and route planning awareness.

Required skills

• Operation of temperature‑controlled trailers.
• Manual transhipping using roll cages.
• Use of securing devices such as straps and nets.
• Conducting vehicle safety inspections.

What we offer

• Competitive salary £38,378 pro‑rata per year.
• 4‑month fixed‑term contract (3 Aug – 30 Nov 2026) with possible extensions.
• Retention bonus up to £750 on successful completion.
• Shift pattern: 4 out of 6 days, starting at 04:00 hrs, average 9.6 hrs per shift.
