Class 2 HGV Driver – Sainsbury’s Local Deliveries

About the role

We are looking for a Class 2 HGV driver to deliver goods to Sainsbury’s convenience stores and regional distribution centres from our Charlton depot. The role involves multi‑drop deliveries, handling palletised and caged goods and providing excellent customer service while complying with all transport regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a Class 2 (Category C) vehicle safely and in line with company standards.
• Perform multi‑drop deliveries to Sainsbury’s stores and RDCs, using tail lifts and kerbside methods.
• Unload caged or palletised goods and collect returns or waste materials.
• Complete and return accurate delivery documentation.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any defects promptly.
• Adhere to tachograph regulations, driver hours legislation and company transport policies.
• Attend mandatory training and keep CPC certification up to date.

Required profile

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
• Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph card.
• Minimum 12 months HGV driving experience.
• Clean driving record (no more than 6 penalty points).
• Physically fit for manual handling tasks.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
