Class 2 Hiab Driver – Dumfries

About the role

Hydro International’s UK Wastewater Services team is seeking a Class 2 Hiab Driver to support wastewater and sewage treatment sites across the UK, based in Dumfries. The role involves daily driving, operating a Hiab crane, and assisting with mechanical and electrical tasks on site, often requiring overnight stays.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a Class 2 HGV equipped with a Hiab crane to lift, move and install plant and equipment on wastewater sites.
• Drive to and from multiple sites across the UK, staying overnight in the vehicle for Monday‑Friday assignments.
• Assist mechanical and electrical trades with installation, removal and maintenance of machinery.
• Perform work at height and in confined spaces, adhering to safety and environmental standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe and well‑presented vehicle and equipment.

Required profile

• Valid UK driving licence with Class 2/HGV entitlement and no more than six penalty points.
• Drivers CPC and Digi‑card certification.
• Crane Operator licence (Hiab) and ability to work at heights.
• Willingness to work on wastewater/sewage treatment sites and stay overnight away from home.
• Physical capability for manual tasks such as kneeling, crouching and lifting.

Required skills

• Class 2 HGV licence.
• Drivers CPC and Digi card.
• Hiab Crane Operator licence.
• Confined Space certification (City & Guilds preferred).
• Slinger / Crane Supervisor qualification (desirable).
• Mechanical engineering knowledge and industrial fitting experience (desirable).
