About the role

The Education Authority is seeking a reliable Cleaner to join its facilities team. Working on‑site, you will maintain a high standard of cleanliness across school premises, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for staff and students.

Key responsibilities

• Sweep, vacuum, mop, dry‑buff, spray clean, spray wax and operate floor‑scrubbing machines.
• Strip and re‑polish hard‑floor surfaces using appropriate equipment.
• Remove stains from carpets and soft floor coverings.
• Clean toilets, showers, fixtures and fittings to a hygienic standard.
• Dust, wash and polish ledges, walls, furniture and internal surfaces up to 3.35 m.
• Empty and clean internal waste bins and transport litter to designated collection points.
• Follow Health & Safety, COSHH and safeguarding regulations at all times.
• Report equipment defects, complete required paperwork and wear prescribed protective clothing.

Required profile

• Ability to work as part of a team and cover colleagues during sickness in line with Authority procedures.
• Willingness to undergo an enhanced disclosure check.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and safeguarding policies.
• Readiness to accept induction and refresher training as required.

• Operation of floor‑sweeping and vacuum equipment.
• Use of mop, dry‑buff and spray‑clean machines.
• Floor stripping, re‑polishing and waxing techniques.
• Carpet stain removal methods.
• Toilet and shower cleaning procedures.
• Dusting, surface polishing and waste‑bin management.
• Knowledge of health‑and‑safety and COSHH regulations.
