Cleaner Supervisor – Part‑time (25 hrs/week)

About the role

Join Newcastle City Council’s Facility Services team as a Cleaner Supervisor on a part‑time basis. You will be based at Newburn Manor Nursery School, overseeing cleaning operations during early‑morning and mid‑day shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of cleaners to ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Plan and allocate daily cleaning tasks, monitor attendance and performance.
• Conduct regular inspections of premises and report any issues.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and safeguarding policies, especially when working with children.
• Maintain records of cleaning schedules, stock levels and equipment.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage staff effectively.
• Flexible approach to working hours and locations.
• Physical capability to stoop, bend, lift and carry cleaning equipment.
• Team‑player who can also work independently and meet deadlines.
• Customer‑focused, self‑motivated and able to follow written and spoken instructions in English.
• Suitable to work with children and young people.
