Cleaner - Team Leader

About the role

Charles River Laboratories is seeking a Cleaner – Team Leader to oversee cleaning operations at its Tranent facility (EH33 2NE) near Edinburgh. The role works a regular Monday‑to‑Friday shift from 07:30 to 15:30 and requires a presence on‑site throughout the working day.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate cleaning activities for office, laboratory and general areas, including surfaces, floors, benches and corridors.
• Supervise a team of cleaners, ensuring standards of hygiene and safety are consistently met.
• Act as deputy for the supervisor in their absence, maintaining continuity of service.
• Manage cleaning schedules, stock of consumables and equipment to support efficient operations.
• Promote a culture of attention to detail and continuous improvement among the cleaning staff.

Required profile

• Previous experience in cleaning or facilities maintenance is a distinct advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team.
• Strong attention to detail and a flexible, hard‑working attitude.
• People‑leadership experience preferred, with the capability to deputise for supervisors.
