Cleaning Assistant at The Sands Centre

About the role

GLL is seeking a motivated Cleaning Assistant to join the team at The Sands Centre in Carlisle. You will support the cleaning supervisor in maintaining a high‑standard, safe environment for audiences, artists and staff across the venue’s auditorium, backstage and public areas.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the cleaning supervisor to ensure all venue areas are clean and presentable after each event.
• Follow health and safety procedures, including COSHH regulations, when handling chemicals and equipment.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, waste removal and surface sanitising.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the supervisor promptly.
• Adapt to flexible working hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends during peak periods.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, hard‑working and detail‑oriented.
• Willingness to learn and take on new tasks as the role evolves.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑footfall environment.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts aligned with event schedules.

Required skills

• Knowledge of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
