Cleaning Operative – Part‑time Support Staff

About the role

We are looking for a part‑time Cleaning Operative to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment across Cardinal Newman College and its partner site, Lancaster University School of Mathematics. The role starts as soon as possible and offers flexible shift patterns.

Key responsibilities

• Empty and clean all internal waste bins and transfer rubbish to external containers.
• Clean toilets, sinks and mop floor areas daily.
• Wipe and tidy teaching and office desk spaces.
• Adapt working location between the main college site and the partner site as required.
• Respond flexibly to changes in cleaning schedules to meet college needs.

Required profile

• Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar cleaning role.
• Ability to manage time and work area efficiently.
• Team‑oriented attitude and commitment to the college’s Catholic ethos, equality, diversity and safeguarding policies.

Required skills

• Use of standard cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures related to cleaning.

What we offer

• £13.45 per hour (pro‑rated to £25,949 per annum) including a living‑wage top‑up.
• 14 hours per week across AM or PM shift patterns.
