Clerical Officer / Call Handler – Primary Care & Community Services

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Clerical Officer/Call Handler to join the Admin Team supporting the Phlebotomy Single Point of Access (SPoA). Working from the Adelphi Centre in Glasgow, you will be the first point of contact for telephone and electronic referrals into the Phlebotomy service, ensuring accurate and timely processing of patient information.

Key responsibilities

• Answer inbound calls and make outbound calls to manage referrals and appointments.
• Enter referral details into the electronic patient information system accurately.
• Tri­age patients where appropriate and schedule phlebotomy appointments.
• Provide reception and clerical support to one or more office bases, handling visitors politely.
• Book rooms and arrange interpreters for clinical appointments and meetings.
• Receive, sort, and dispatch mail using appropriate methods.
• Monitor email accounts and take appropriate actions.

Required profile

• Ability to work under the direction of the Business Support Team management.
• Polite, helpful manner when dealing with patients, public, and staff.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Required skills

• Proficiency with an electronic patient information system.
• Basic computer literacy for email and electronic booking.
