Clerk of Works M&E

About the role

Brandon James Ltd is seeking a field‑based Clerk of Works to support its Midlands projects. You will be responsible for inspecting mechanical and electrical (M&E) installations, ensuring quality, safety and compliance across a varied portfolio of construction sites.

Key responsibilities

• Report on M&E installation quality and workmanship to aftercare teams and surveyors.
• Attend initial and recurring project meetings with clients and the wider project team.
• Carry out regular site inspections across the Midlands, verifying compliance with drawings and specifications.
• Produce and distribute site inspection reports, progress updates and quality control documentation.
• Provide photographic records of progress, defects and corrective actions.
• Identify defects, non‑compliance and recommend remedial actions.
• Assist with snagging and de‑snagging inspections and support handover procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector or Quality Inspector.
• Strong understanding of building construction standards and site quality requirements.
• Experience with residential developments and M&E inspections.
• MICWCI status or commitment to obtain membership.
• Valid CSCS card and full clean UK driving licence.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
