Client Bookkeeper – Chartered Accountancy Firm

About the role

Our client, a respected chartered accountancy practice in Loughton, is seeking a Client Bookkeeper to manage a portfolio of owner‑managed businesses. You will work in a modern, technology‑driven environment, delivering bookkeeping and accounting services while building lasting client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and develop a diverse portfolio of owner‑managed business clients.
• Perform bookkeeping using cloud platforms such as Xero and Sage.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with Making Tax Digital requirements.
• Produce management accounts and support year‑end accounts preparation.
• Carry out bank reconciliations, ledger maintenance and ongoing client advice.
• Train, supervise and mentor junior staff members.
• Identify and implement improvements to systems and processes.
• Collaborate closely with managers and partners to ensure high‑quality client service.

Required profile

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
• Strong bookkeeping knowledge and familiarity with VAT and MTD.
• Excellent communication and client‑management abilities.
• Organised, detail‑oriented and proactive approach.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff is advantageous.
