Client Manager – Accountancy Practice (Edinburgh)

About the role

This position is with a respected medium‑sized accountancy practice in Edinburgh. The Client Manager will act as the main point of contact for a diverse portfolio of clients, delivering high‑quality accountancy, tax and advisory services while supporting the firm’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients across multiple sectors, serving as their primary contact.
• Review and sign off accounts, tax returns, VAT returns and management accounts prepared by junior staff.
• Provide proactive advice on tax efficiency, financial reporting and business planning.
• Maintain strong, long‑term client relationships through regular communication and excellent service.
• Identify opportunities to add value and support clients’ business growth.
• Lead, mentor and develop junior team members, delivering training as required.
• Assist in business development through networking, referrals and cross‑selling services.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and internal processes.

Required profile

• ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
• Significant experience working within an accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation, tax compliance and advisory services.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and deliver high‑quality work.
• Commercial awareness with a focus on growing client relationships.
• Experience managing and developing junior staff.
