Client Manager – Portfolio Manager for Accountancy Practice

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, client‑focused professional to join our growing accountancy practice as a Client Manager / Portfolio Manager. The role is non‑audit and centres on managing a portfolio of owner‑managed businesses, SMEs and high‑net‑worth individuals, delivering proactive accounting, tax and advisory services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a diverse client portfolio across multiple sectors, acting as the primary point of contact.
• Oversee timely delivery of statutory accounts, corporation tax returns and self‑assessment filings.
• Provide tax planning, advisory support and business‑performance reviews during regular client meetings.
• Review work prepared by junior and semi‑senior team members, offering technical guidance and mentorship.
• Identify opportunities to expand services, support fee reviews and contribute to practice development initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a client‑facing accounting or tax role within an accountancy practice.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with owners, directors and high‑net‑worth individuals.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
• Leadership qualities to mentor junior staff and support team development.
