Climbing Instructor

About the role

GLL is seeking a motivated Climbing Instructor to join the team at Penrith Leisure Centre. You will work with children and adults of all abilities, delivering safe and engaging climbing sessions in a friendly environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a structured climbing programme focused on progression and skill development.
• Provide high‑quality coaching and improve participation numbers.
• Monitor pupils’ status, needs and safety throughout sessions.
• Maintain a positive image of the centre by offering welcoming, professional customer service.
• Set up and maintain climbing equipment safely.
• Handle customer queries and ensure a smooth experience for visitors.

Required profile

• A can‑do attitude and strong focus on customer service.
• Passion for climbing, good personality and teamwork.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
• Climbing Instructor qualification (Level 2) or higher.
• Current First Aid qualification.
• Experience coaching in a community or leisure setting.

Required skills

• Climbing instruction (Level 2 qualification)
• First Aid certification
