Clinical Negligence Lawyer – Bristol

About the role

We are supporting a nationally recognised law firm in Bristol to hire an experienced Clinical Negligence Lawyer. The role involves managing complex, high‑value claimant clinical negligence claims and leading a small team of case handlers. A hybrid working model is offered, with two days in the office and three days remote.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a personal caseload of technical, high‑value clinical negligence claims from instruction through to settlement or trial.
• Supervise, mentor and develop a small team of clinical negligence case handlers.
• Conduct regular risk‑assessment meetings, one‑to‑one supervision sessions and case‑planning reviews.
• Ensure matters progress efficiently in line with the Civil Procedure Rules, internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in team training, business development and marketing activities.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with approximately 4‑5 years post‑qualification experience.
• Proven track record in managing claimant clinical negligence claims and litigation.
• In‑depth knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and clinical negligence law.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers or case handlers.
• Strong client‑care, communication and organisational abilities, with sensitivity to clients and medical experts.
• Experience with claims funded by legal expenses insurance, legal aid or conditional fee agreements is advantageous but not essential.
