Clinical Nurse Specialist – Leukaemia & Stem Cell Transplant

About the role

The Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist will join the Haemato‑Oncology team at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, providing expert nursing care for patients with leukaemia throughout their treatment pathway, including stem cell transplantation. You will act as the patient’s key worker, coordinating care, offering information and emotional support, and collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for leukaemia patients and their families from diagnosis through end‑of‑life care.
• Coordinate and oversee stem cell transplant processes, including pre‑assessment, post‑transplant monitoring and follow‑up.
• Attend weekly haematology clinics, MDT meetings and transplant board meetings.
• Provide nurse‑led follow‑up services and education on chemotherapy, targeted therapies and CAR‑T treatments.
• Act as a clinical resource and advocate for patients, supporting safe, evidence‑based practice.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with substantial experience in haematology‑oncology.
• Demonstrated expertise in leukaemia treatment pathways and stem cell transplantation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Clinical knowledge of leukaemia, chemotherapy, targeted therapies and CAR‑T.
• Proficiency in stem cell transplant coordination.
• Strong assessment, counselling and patient‑education abilities.
