Clinical Pharmacist – NHS Trust

About the role

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking qualified Clinical Pharmacists to join a nationally recognised, innovative pharmacy team. The role is rotational across multiple Trust sites and includes community and primary‑care settings, with opportunities for weekend and on‑call work.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional and clinical input as part of multidisciplinary pharmacy teams.
• Prescribe medication where qualified, supporting patient care on wards, in specialist clinics, GP practices, homes and care homes.
• Contribute to medicines optimisation through clinical governance, risk reduction and audit activities.
• Participate in continuous professional development aligned with the RPS Foundation Pharmacist Pathway.
• Support the 7‑day clinical pharmacy service at the Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.

Required profile

• Qualified pharmacist, trainee due to qualify by August 2026 or recently qualified.
• Willingness to work across multiple Trust locations and in primary/community care.
• Commitment to weekend and on‑call duties as part of the clinical team.
• Flexibility for part‑time or job‑share arrangements.

Required skills

• Prescribing medication (where qualified).
• Clinical governance and risk reduction activities.
• Clinical audit and practice development.
