Clinical Research Physician (Level 1) – Liverpool

About the role

We are looking for a Clinical Research Physician (Level 1) to join our clinic in Liverpool. The role involves acting as Sub‑Investigator and, where delegated, Principal Investigator on clinical research studies, ensuring compliance with the protocol and ICH‑GCP standards. This position is ideal for newly qualified doctors seeking a career in clinical research outside the traditional NHS or private practice pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as Sub‑Investigator or delegated Principal Investigator on assigned trials.
• Provide medical care and oversight for trial participants, including informed consent, physical examinations and clinical procedures.
• Ensure all trial activities adhere to ICH‑GCP guidelines and study protocols.
• Maintain accurate source documentation, review medical records, lab results and study reports.
• Participate in site monitoring visits, sponsor and regulatory audits, and investigator meetings.
• Assist clinical staff with trial‑related tasks and contribute to on‑call rota duties as required.
• Support training of recruitment teams on protocol specifics and medical information.

Required profile

• UK GMC registration with a valid licence to practise.
• Minimum two years post‑graduate medical experience in the NHS (including FY1 & FY2).
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ICH‑GCP standards.
• Experience in clinical trial management and documentation.
• Ability to conduct informed consent and clinical assessments.
