Cloud Platform Engineer – Azure Operations (12‑month contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to own day‑to‑day Azure infrastructure operations for a leading alternative investments firm in London. The role balances operational efficiency with a security‑first mindset in a regulated financial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Azure services including compute, networking, storage and identity (Entra ID) across multiple subscriptions.
• Manage patching and vulnerability remediation, maintain emergency CVE runbooks.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using PowerShell, Terraform and Bicep.
• Support cloud security posture management tools such as Wiz and GitHub Advanced Security.
• Maintain and manage Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environment and session hosts.
• Configure conditional access policies and identity governance in Entra ID.
• Maintain and test disaster recovery runbooks.
• Monitor Azure resources using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience administering Azure (compute, networking, storage, IAM).
• Strong PowerShell scripting abilities.
• Experience with patch and vulnerability management.
• Familiarity with Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
• Understanding of network security concepts (NSGs, segmentation, private endpoints).
• Experience configuring Entra ID, conditional access and identity governance.
• Ability to work within change‑management processes and manage stakeholders.
• Background in financial services or other regulated environments.
