CNC Engineer – Aerospace Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking a skilled CNC Engineer to join our aerospace manufacturing team in Essex. The role offers the chance to develop expertise in centreless grinding while operating a range of CNC and secondary‑operation machine tools.

Key responsibilities

• Set‑up, run and maintain CNC machines, lathes and manual equipment.
• Operate secondary operations such as thread‑rolling, part marking, drilling, depitching, torque testing and deburring.
• Perform first‑off and job‑run inspections, recording measurements with micrometres to tight tolerances.
• Reduce scrap and re‑work by reporting efficiencies to the Production Manager.
• Maintain machine efficiency to meet on‑time delivery, parts‑per‑hour and KPI targets.
• Complete daily maintenance check sheets and ensure a safe, clean work environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience in engineering, preferably within the aerospace sector.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail, numeracy and quality performance.
• Team‑player with good communication skills.

Required skills

• CNC machine operation and set‑up.
• Centreless grinding (desirable) and general grinding techniques.
• Micrometre measurement to micron‑level tolerances.
• Interpretation of engineering drawings.
• Material handling of aluminium, stainless steel and Inconel.
